[Solved] AADSync – AADConnect : Unable to start Azure AD Connect Synchronization Rules Editor

This week I had an installation of AADConnect / AADSync, which was not able to show the Synchronization Rules

In the bottom left corner you see a little button ‘View errors’ .

Here you’ll see the errors

Errors:

Retrieving the COM class factory for remote component with CLSID {835BEE60-8731-4159-8BFF-941301D76D05} from machine ADFS33 failed due to the following error: 80070005 ADFS33.

at System.Management.Automation.Internal.PipelineProcessor.SynchronousExecuteEnumerate(Object input, Hashtable errorResults, Boolean enumerate)

at System.Management.Automation.Runspaces.LocalPipeline.InvokeHelper()

at System.Management.Automation.Runspaces.LocalPipeline.InvokeThreadProc()

In the Eventlog you’ll see :

Description:

The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID

{835BEE60-8731-4159-8BFF-941301D76D05} and APPID {835BEE60-8731-4159-8BFF-941301D76D05}

to the user Domein\Admin SID (S-1-5-21-52429900-555369204-6498272-4455) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

Solution:


Start the program as an Administrator !
