This week I ran into a problem with connecting a HP T510 thin client to a RDS server 2012 R2 server (with Server 2012 R2 gateway).
The thin client had a Windows XP SP3 (WES 2009) installation active. There was a possibility to upgrade to Windows 7 in the thin client, but I hadn’t the time to upgrade all of the thin client at this location. Therefor I choose to use this work around, for the time being, until the client replaces these thin clients (in a few months).
Error:
The connection has been terminated because an unexpected server authentication certificate was received from the remote computer.
Try connecting again. If the problem continues, contact the owner of the remote computer or your network administrator.
Solution:
Go to the gateway server, go into the RDS Collection.
Edit the collection properties.
Change the security of the collection to :
- Encryption level low
- Disable Network Level Authentication
From this moment your able to connect a WES 2009 Thin client (Windows XP SP3) to a Windows 2012 R2 RDS server.
